Caring For Your Loved One

Gentle, personal care every step of the way

When someone comes into our care, we understand that families place an enormous amount of trust in us. Looking after your loved one is one of the most important parts of what we do, and we always do so with dignity, compassion and great attention to detail.

Your loved one will initially be brought to our Offerton Funeral Home, where our dedicated mortuary facilities allow us to look after them properly, including their personal care and preparation.

We have chapels of rest at both our Offerton and Romiley funeral homes, so you can choose where you would prefer to spend time with your loved one. Both provide a peaceful, comfortable and welcoming space, where you can visit privately and spend time together.

We believe families should feel reassured, informed and included. Whether you would like us to take care of everything, or you would like to be involved in dressing, styling or helping with personal touches, we will support you in whatever feels right for you.

Family involvement

If you would like to help us with dressing, styling or other personal touches, you are very welcome.

Comforting visits

Both our Offerton and Romiley funeral homes have their own chapels of rest for families to spend time together.

Bringing Someone Into Our Care

From the very first moment

When your loved one is brought into our care, they will initially rest at our Offerton Funeral Home. This is where our dedicated mortuary and preparation facilities are located, allowing us to provide the care they need in a calm, secure and professional environment.

We know that many families worry about what happens next. We will explain everything clearly, answer your questions and help you feel comfortable with each step of the process.

Our aim is always to treat each person as an individual, with the same consideration and attention we would want for someone close to us.

Preparation & Presentation

Looking after your loved one with care and attention

The little details can mean so much. We take time over the personal care and presentation of everyone we look after, listening to families and respecting their wishes.

Washing & grooming

We can wash and care for your loved one, including washing and conditioning their hair, styling it and helping them look neat and natural.

Dressing & personal touches

We can dress your loved one in their own clothes, apply make-up, paint nails and include other personal details that are important to them and to you.

Family involvement

Some families find comfort in helping with hair, make-up, dressing or other final touches. If you would like to be involved, you are very welcome to join us.

Time Together

Visiting in our chapel of rest

We have chapel of rest facilities at both our Offerton and Romiley funeral homes, so families can choose the location that suits them best.

Both chapels are designed to feel friendly and comforting, rather than formal or intimidating. They offer somewhere peaceful and private to spend time with your loved one.

Each chapel also has an Alexa, allowing us to play music during your visit if you wish. Whether you would prefer favourite music playing softly, a quiet moment together or simply somewhere to sit, we will do our best to make the visit feel right for you.

Visits are arranged by appointment so that we can make sure everything is ready for you. If there is anything you would particularly like during your visit, please just ask.

Embalming

Only where there is a genuine reason

We are often asked about embalming, but it is not something we routinely recommend or carry out. In most circumstances, we do not believe embalming is necessary.

Embalming is an invasive process and, for many people, does not provide a meaningful benefit. There can be circumstances where it may be appropriate, and if we believe that to be the case we will explain why and discuss the options with you.

We believe families should understand the care being provided and why it is being recommended. There should never be any pressure to agree to a procedure that is not needed.

Our approach is simple: we recommend care based on individual circumstances, not as a routine extra.

Our Promise

Thoughtful, honest and personal care

Every family is different, and so is every person we look after.

We take the time to understand what matters to you, whether that means favourite clothing, a particular hairstyle, a special piece of music or simply knowing your loved one is being cared for properly.

Our responsibility is not just to arrange the funeral. It is also to look after your loved one with kindness, dignity and respect from the moment they come into our care.

If there is anything you would like to discuss about their care, preparation or visiting, you are always welcome to ask.
