Our Essential Funeral is designed for families who would like a traditional funeral service at the crematorium, but don't necessarily need all the additional choices and arrangements of a fully personalised funeral.
It provides a dignified farewell at Stockport Crematorium, with family and friends able to attend a service led by a celebrant or minister.
By keeping certain arrangements straightforward, we're able to offer this service at a fixed package price, while providing the same personal care and attention for your loved one.

Not every family wants or needs a large funeral with a procession, limousines and a wide range of additional arrangements.
Our Essential Funeral offers the opportunity for family and friends to come together at the crematorium, share memories and say goodbye during a funeral service.
We'll look after your loved one, help organise the funeral and explain the arrangements clearly, so you know exactly what is included from the beginning.

The fixed price includes the essential services needed to arrange and conduct a funeral at Stockport Crematorium.
We believe in being clear about what families will receive, without unexpected extras or unnecessary complications.
Bringing your loved one into our care, within the terms of the package.
Care of your loved one at our funeral home.
Dressing your loved one in their own clothes, where suitable.
Visits to our Chapel of Rest by appointment during normal office hours.
A suitable standard coffin.
Funeral arrangements made at our funeral home.
Administration, paperwork and liaison with the crematorium and officiant.
A funeral service at Stockport Crematorium.
The crematorium fee included in the fixed price.
A celebrant or minister to conduct the service.
A hearse to convey the coffin directly to the crematorium.
Important Information
How the Essential Funeral Works
To make this funeral available at a fixed price, there are some differences between our Essential Funeral and our fully personalised services. We want these to be clear from the outset.
Funeral Date and Time
The date and time of the funeral are arranged by Memories, according to the availability of the funeral director and the crematorium. The service takes place at Stockport Crematorium, with the cremation arranged separately afterwards.
Making the Arrangements
Funeral arrangements are carried out at one of our funeral homes during normal office hours. Home visits for making arrangements are not included in this package.
Travelling to the Crematorium
The hearse travels directly to the crematorium. Family and friends make their own way there and meet us at the crematorium rather than joining a procession from a private address.
Bringing the Coffin into the Chapel
A team of pallbearers is not included. The coffin is wheeled into the chapel on the crematorium bier. If family members would prefer to carry the coffin, this may be possible by prior agreement, subject to suitability and safety.
Chapel of Rest Visits
Families are welcome to arrange visits to our Chapel of Rest during normal office hours. Evening and weekend visits are not included in the Essential package.
Additional Choices
This is a defined package. Additional services such as limousines, visual tributes and other personalisation options are not included. If you would prefer more flexibility, we can explain our Traditional Funeral service.
